CompTIA IT Project+
The CompTIA IT Project+ certification validates the knowledge and abilities required as an IT project manager. IT Project+ certification is proof of the critical knowledge of business practices, interpersonal skills and project management processes, in addition to the ability to effectively plan, implement and complete IT projects on time and within budget. CompTIA's IT Project+ certification is a vendor-neutral credential.

The four categories that the IT Project+ exam tests on include:

Scope Definition
This section requires that the candidate have the knowledge to identify and define high-level business-related requirements, outcomes, and criteria for success, identify stakeholders’ low-level needs and expectations including boundaries for project budget, duration, and risk. This section will also require the knowledge to define a manager role/authority, to create a scope document that accurately represents the project size and specifics and to build stakeholder consensus, and obtain written approval from stakeholders.

Preliminary planning/Project planning
This section requires the knowledge and skills to create a project plan, requirements analysis, risk management and budgeting. This section also requires knowledge on how to create a schedule, a work breakdown structure (WBS), a project cost estimation, a communication plan and organization of a comprehensive project plan and close out the planning phase.

Project Execution
This section requires the knowledge and skills in project and issue tracking, change control, quality management, team management and resource management.

Closure
This section requires the knowledge and skills to recognize and explain the value of conducting a comprehensive review process that evaluates the planning, organizing, directing, controlling, execution, and budget phases of the project, identifying both the positive and negative aspects in a written report.
