I began programming in C and C++ on UNIX and the 680x0 MacOS platforms in the late 1980s. I currently work primarily with Visual Basic .NET, Microsoft SQL and Oracle for my projects.
I am familiar with a variety of operating systems including: UNICOS, AT&T UNIX System V, BSD unix, SunOS, Sun Solaris, SCO unix, MacOS, Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, XP, PE, 2000 and 2003 Server.
I am also familiar with a range of servers, workstations and desktop hardware including: AT&T 3B2, Sun SPARC, DEC VAX, Apple Macintosh and Intel-based PCs.
Although my core competencies are Visual Basic and SQL development, my other interests include cryptography, clustering and blade-based computing. Clustering is probably my all-time favorite computing topic. I find the concept of daisy chaining a quantity of inexpensive machines together to achieve levels of processing otherwise unavailable very appealing.
This website describes my technical education background, certification and consulting services.
